What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Contact forms

If you have contacted us via our Contact Forms, bought one of our products, or signed up for our newsletters, your data is held securely by SAM Publishing Ltd either within the internal secure CRM or via our MailChimp account. See the MailChimp Privacy Policy here.

Mailing lists, sales and promotions

If you are responding to one of our subscription promotions via social media, or purchasing Silver Products please be aware that we will be adding you to our mailing list as we will need to confirm your subscriptions and purchases, but other information will be requested on a need-to-know basis. You don’t need to opt in to anything you don’t want, but we cannot post your purchases without your address and contact details. Your details will also be added to our dropshipping partner’s mailing details, Options Ltd.

We will always offer you an option to opt out from any newsletters later, should you change your mind. You can also be removed from the postal mailing list if you request this and you’re sure you won’t order further products. It may be harder to order in future if you have removed your details. We will always try to work with you to ensure your needs are serviced, whatever your preferences.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log into this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

This also applies to our courses supplied by our partner Goldster. If you take a subscription to the online learning courses you are subject to Goldster’s GDPR policy, and we will also retain your details. You can unsubscribe at any time, and also request to see the information we hold about you. If you wish to see the information Goldster Ltd holds on you, please contact Goldster. See the Goldster Privacy Policy here.

Other websites linked to from this site may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

Who we share your data with

We do not share your information outside of SAM Publishing Ltd except with regard to our necessary partners, such as Goldster. Your information is held securely and we do not share it with any other third parties.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For those of you on a mailing list, we endeavour to check regularly to ensure you still want to stay with us, and always offer an easy opt-out.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile (if created). All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Otherwise all data is held by SAM Publishing Ltd and its recognised partners.

Additional information

How we protect your data

At SAM Publishing Ltd we take your security very seriously and we ensure your data is stored either securely on our internal CRM or within the secure platform of MailChimp, which we use for staying in touch with you. You may at any time contact us to check, edit or remove the data we hold on you but we pledge to offer regular opportunities for doing this anyway. We do not share your data with any third parties outside of our Silver Travel Club provider. And we ensure that our security measures are kept up to date to protect you from potential threat or exposure.

What data breach procedures we have in place

At SAM Publishing Ltd we ensure that any of our team responsible for the handling of data is carefully trained and monitored. In the unlikely event of a breach we are able to track the breach and we have allocated staff members who are tasked with managing this event. We will notify you regardless of any perceived security risk or otherwise as we believe you have a right to know, and we will always ensure that any weak spots are identified and resolved – before any breaches occur wherever possible.

What third parties we receive data from

At SAM Publishing Ltd from time to time we extrapolate data from third party sources such as social media platforms or via PR companies. We handle that data in exactly the same responsible way that we handle all our data, and we always offer an opportunity for anyone whose data is held to opt out immediately and without question.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

At SAM Publishing Ltd our profiling and analysis is human and not automated. Our users’ data however may have been used for anonymous profiling via Facebook or Google Analytics etc, but we endeavour to protect users from unauthorised or irregular usage of data or performance analysis.
